In this lesson, we were tasked to cut out one shape from another. Here are some in depth steps in which we took in order to create this image:

Step 1: Firstly, we opened Adobe Illustrator.

Step 2: Once we had opened Adobe Illustrator and then application had loaded, we then created a New Document.

Step 3: With the New Document created, we then modified the settings to our liking.

Step 4: With the tool panel on the left hand side. We chose the pen tool and created a four sided shape in which we changed the fill and the stroke of the shape.

Step 5: With the colour and stroke filled. We created a second shape of our choice.

Step 6: We then overlapped both of the shapes.

Step 7: Once the shapes were overlapped, we then went to Window > Object & Layout > Pathfinder.

Step 8: Once we had selected pathfinder, we then cut out one shape from another using “Minus front/ Subtract”

Step 9: Lastly, we used the text tool to create a paragraph. We then positioned it behind the cut out area to show that we had accomplished the task and that the 4 sided shape had been cut out.
